What is the antigen testing process?2021-08-09T15:12:22+00:00

To perform a Corona antigen test, book an appointment on the site. Your tester will contact you to confirm a time for your test.  The test will be performed by trained personnel.  You will immediately receive your travel certificate once your test shows a negative result.

How does the test work?2021-08-09T15:13:25+00:00

The sample is taken using a nose swab. The swab is then put into a test tube filled with a buffer solution so that any virus particles are washed out. A test strip is then used to determine the results. The test is negative if one line appears on the strip and positive if two lines appear.  Its very simple and non intrusive.

How reliable is the test?2021-08-09T15:13:50+00:00

Our test is approved by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. According to the manufacturer, the antigen test has a clinical sensitivity of 98.5% and a clinical specificity of 99.3%. The sensitivity rating indicates whether everyone with the virus is correctly identified as having the virus. The specificity rating indicates whether everyone who does not have the virus is correctly identified as not having the virus. It is, however, important to note that the concentration of antigens may fluctuate as the illness progresses and may be below the antigen test’s detection limit. A negative test result can therefore not completely rule out a possible infection.

How soon will i receive my results?2021-08-09T15:20:54+00:00

Once you have been tested, you will receive your certificate within a few minutes of your test result.  Tests can take up to 15 minutes to receive a negative result, so be patient.

Once you have a negative result, your tester will issue the certificate immediately. You will receive them by email and SMS within a few seconds.

What is the sensitivity and specificity of the test?2021-08-09T15:21:38+00:00

According to the manufacturer’s information, the antigen test has a sensitivity of 96.6% and a specificity of 99.9%. This information is provided in your results report. Sensitivity is the ability of the test to detect COVID-19 in a diseased subject. Specificity is the ability of the test to give a negative result in a healthy subject.

Can I travel with a negative test result?2021-08-09T15:21:59+00:00

What Countries accept a Rapid Antigen Test?2021-08-09T15:26:26+00:00

Currently only Spain, Malta & Ireland require a PCR Test, all other countries accept a Rapid Antigen Test.

Please check the requirements of the country you are travelling to.

Why would I do the SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen test?2021-08-10T05:21:48+00:00

To quickly check if you are infectious to others, to prevent risks to the health of others. With results in 15-
20 minutes this test will confirm if you are a risk to others and let you know if you are infected with SARS-CoV-2.
Workplaces and other organisations will benefit from regular testing to ensure they are not at risk of
infecting each other.

How does the rapid test work?2021-08-10T05:22:23+00:00

The test is a lateral flow immunoassay test and operates in a similar way to a pregnancy test. Embedded
into the test strip are antibodies that bind to a SARS-CoV-2 specific biomarker, Immunoglobulin G (IgG), and
another infection biomarker, Immunoglobulin M (IgM). When a sample is added to one end of the test, it flows along the test strip and interacts with these antibodies. If the patient has contracted SARS-CoV-2, the biomarkers in their blood will bind to the antibodies on the test strip, leaving a
visible test line. If the patient doesn’t have SARS-CoV-2, no biomarkers should be present in their blood and
no test line will be visible. There are separate test lines for IgG and IgM and only one needs to be visible for
a positive result.

What happens if I test positive?2021-08-10T05:25:41+00:00

Don’t panic.  We will offer you a PCR test to confirm that you have the virus.  Please bear in mind that it can take over 24 hours to receive your PCR results.  This means that if you have a flight to catch then you should have the rapid test 3 days before your flight.

This allows you to still make your flight if you test negative from the PCR test.

If the PCR test comes back positive then you will be asked to quarantine for 10 days and then test again.  Once you have a negative test result you will be allowed to fly home.

Can pregnant or breast feeding women be tested?2021-08-10T05:26:34+00:00

Yes, there is no harm to the mother or baby when performing a test.

Is the test CE marked? Does it have IVD certification?2021-08-10T05:37:13+00:00

Yes, the SARS-CoV-2 test is CE marked for professional use and is therefore a registered IVD device.
